I got to meet this lovely mother of 3 boys today!! After getting really sick and recovering, she wanted a change.  We wanted a violet hue to a more natural color as well as adding fun reds around the face!!

DeLeone came in and saw me again. we added more highlights and less violet on top as well as brightened up the violet around her nape. The violet is more noticeable now which is very beautiful!!

Merlot had seen Miss. Goldilocks in her place of employment multiple times and fell in love with her haircut. So we took off 6″ or more off the back and her shorter lengths became her longest! We had such a wonderful time getting to know each other.

Here Fishy-Fishy

A few guys from Mr. Boo’s work decided they wanted to get a lot of people together to go fishing along the Deschutes River in Madras.  They planned and they planned for about 2 weeks getting at least 8 people together. As the days drew closer, 4 of the 7 didn’t make it.

That didn’t stop us from having a blast!!

Mr. Boo and Mr. Reed tying a bobber-jig setup. As you can see, you can’t fish without beer.

I didn’t have my steal head tag, and since season ends in a few days, we decided that Mr. Boo would get his and I would just fish trout. Once we got to the river we found out that trout fishing ended October 31st. Sad… So needless to say I didn’t get to fish! I did though, however get to spend all day with Mr. Boo while he got to do what he loves! mash

Unfortunately, No fish were harvested today! But we did have a great time!

Hair of the day!

I will be the first to admit, that I had a very eventful day.  Who’s complaining though!! I am going to do something a little bit different with today’s post!

This lovely gal, is a return client and you may remember her first appointment with me.

Before and After:

The first image is 5 weeks fade/grow out. For a first time red, this is almost unheard of!

My next client was just a Shampoo style, but just like the first one, she allowed me to use my creativity. Not very often, do you have clients come into the salon that you can do a pin-curl wet set.

We had such a good time. It’s hard to feel like you’re working when you are having this much fun.

I love seeing the before and after, surprisingly this is only 5 week grow-out! PhotoGrid_1418611908122

This lovely lady, was such  a great conversation. We just yapped and yapped. It makes your day go by so much faster when you have wonderful clients as stylist. But as a client, its wonderful when you have a great connection with you’re stylist.

PhotoGrid_1418611793747

She wanted something very easy and messy. So that all she has to do is blow dry and go or give it a spray to refresh.  PhotoGrid_1418611748019

PhotoGrid_1418611651163

This was the hair to end the day!! It may of taken me a little bit longer then we wanted, but she got exactly what she wanted. She came in a little hesitant, and didn’t expect to feel the way she felt when she left!!

We did a 2 color full weave and a cut and style. She came in with hair so dry, that it was unruly and frizzy. It is crazy how you’re hair feels so “dead” “damaged” and how it breaks just by being too dry!! Moisture Moisture Moisture will be you’re best friend especially in Central Oregon even Central Washington. My suggestion is Redken’s Diamond Oil.

This lovely lady saw the transformation that a little bit of  Diamond Oil can do to very dry hair! She started thinking we needed to take off 5″ but in reality, once we got moisture on her ends we only needed to take off 1″.

Before and After:

This is one of my favorite transformations so far!! PhotoGrid_1418611402665 ‘

We had so much fun, it felt like i’d known her my whole life. In reality, I’d only known her for 3 hours!! PhotoGrid_1418611487065

Its so wonderful when as a Hair stylist, I have days like I had today! Everyone I saw today was so wonderful and made a very busy day so joyful!! Thank you so much to everyone I saw today for being lovely and very warm and happy!

Spicy Teriyaki Chicken

_DSC0760 copy edit 2

INGREDIENTS:

4 Boneless Chicken
2c Teriyaki Sauce
1/4c Hawaiian Sweet and Sour Sauce
1tbsp Sweet Chili Sauce
1tbsp garlic
1tbsp honey
1/2tbsp Maple Syrup
Splash Worcestershire
Onion (desired amount)
Pepper (desired amount)
Pinch Clove
1tsp onion powder
1 zucchini
2 large carrots (8 mini carrots)
1/2c Jasmine Rice
1 cup water

_DSC0675edit
In separate bowl mix together Teriyaki sauce, Hawaiian Sweet and Sour, sweet chili sauce, Worcestershire, garlic, honey and maple syrup. Then add onions to let them soak for a few minutes.

_DSC0680edit

Line the pot with boneless chicken, in my case my crock pot fits 4 comfortably.  Turn crock pot onto low. While the raw chicken is in the crock pot, put the dry ingredients like the clove, pepper, and onion powder over the top of the chicken.

edit

Combine the Teriyaki mixture with chicken. Let cook on low for 45 minutes.

_DSC0699edit

Cut up the zucchini and carrots. You can cut them up how you like them. I cubed the zucchini and sliced the carrots into thin rounds.

_DSC0706edit

Put the carrots in the crock pot with the chicken and sauce.  Carrots are harder vegetables, so they take longer to cook down.

_DSC0722edit

After 2 hours of cooking, pull the chicken out and shred on a cutting board with 2 forks.

_DSC0726edit copy

Put the chicken back in the sauce, but this time add the zucchini as well and turn the heat back down to low.

_DSC0685 edit

Now its time to make the rice.  Ratio is 2 parts water to one part rice. All rice is different. So make sure to read the directions and follow what the package says.

_DSC0741edit

Since its just Boo and me, I only make half of whats suggested. 1 cup water to 1/2 cup rice. Its perfect for us and most the time we have rice left over for lunch the next day!

20 minutes later you have wonderful rice and you are ready to eat!!

Enjoy!

Hair of the Day!

Today’s hair of the day, I am very proud of. (I am proud of all my work but this is my favorite so far.) I received a text message late last night from another gal at the salon saying that she rescheduled her clients sister from Thursday for a color correction to my books the next day because of time conflicts. I had no idea what I was walking into!

The very sweet mother of 4, of which I had an awesome time. Something happened with her usual stylist, she left very unhappy and didn’t feel like she could talk to her stylist. We took her golden tones and added a lowlight and a lighter blonde. We also took her Partial and raised it a full.

Highlight: 20vol Blondor with Olaplex
Lowlight: 55/0 =10vol
Toner:  2 part clear and 1 part 9B Shades EQ

I love these photos. These two are my absolute favorite out of this whole series.  They show the truest color as well as my lovely station.  _DSC0672copy

Another reason I am thrilled with this hair, is also the fact that I took my DSLR to work for the first time in my Hair Career and used my SB-600 Speedlight and got tremendous results. I have been fighting with the lighting at the salon while using my camera from my smartphone. This was my first time using my DSLR and my Speedlight for something other then playing around. Since I got my speedlight (3 years ago) I hadn’t really used it other then to play with it (to figure it out)

We also reshaped the previous haircut adding more layers! It was such a pleasure to work with you today!

A Chilling Version of “Mary Did You Know”

Okay, anyone who can sing or harmonize has major props in my book. That is one thing I wasn’t blessed with. As much as I love the idea of singing and I know my shower synthesizer makes me sound 100 times better. This vocal quintet, is probably among the most talented acapella groups I’ve ever heard. The way they feed off of each other to create masterpieces that will send chills down anyones spine.

Hair of the Day!

This very sophisticated women, wanted to add some red to her brown!!  It was a pleasure to get to do her hair at the last minute. After coloring her hair for the past 6 years herself, she branched out to let someone else do her hair! We are in the process of inverting her previous haircut into a “LOB”.  (The red in her hair is a lot brighter then the picture shows)

Base: 5/71=20vol +greydrops
Ends: Left over of base color with cellophane added
Lowlight: 55/46 = 30vol

The 10 best Bobs and Lobs of Hollywood!

The timeless classic hairstyles like the bobs and Lobs (Longer Bobs) have made their way back into the Hollywood Spot light! The go to hairstyle nation wide. Here are my top 10 favorite this year!

509244027JL00018_Opening_Ce

Emma Stone- Sporting a super cute and very trendy bob great for all hair types. With long layers and a side swept bang, she brings chic back in a short way. I love the way the length compliments her jaw bone.

  464676951TB00029_ELLE_Women

Emma Roberts- Rocking a sleek side part bob!

16612591

Ginnifer Goodwin- With her Chin length bob and a deep part she proves that those with round faces can pull off anything. With a deep part, it changes the focal point of the face and adding texture camouflages the effect of a super round face.

15759379

Gwyneth Paltrow- Rocking the Middle part with her “Long Bob”. Adding messy curls to thinner hair gives the body and volume.  For those of us who want to go shorter but don’t want anything over the collarbone!

478703751FH00136_2nd_Annual

January Jones- Bringing the basic ombre to a textured lob. Keeping the nape length right around her shoulders and the front strands dusting her collar bones. This style creates life and body without feeling like you have super short hair.

Ciara

Ciara- She is sporting the most versatile lob. This lob allows you to part your hair however you decide. For those that don’t have a specific side they like to part on but what to loose some length here is a great style.

 160108640GD085_24th_Annual_

Kerry Washington- Bangs and a textured lob.

 129631918AW028_2011_Angel_B

Naomi Campbell- Adding bangs for a more modern look to her sleek lob.

 63478617

Rihanna- Sporting a lob in a beautiful red. Adding texture and movement creates a stylish bouncy look.

63750371

Scarlett Johanson- With a textured bob, She can pull off a side flip and messy beach waves.

Hair of the Day!

I’ve heard nothing but story after story of this beautiful soul! You dont run into very many people who are just so sweet and genuine all the way to the core. A very close friend of my mother inlaw came and gave me a visit today! She has had a run in life and is still a very wonderful woman. With her moving here in the new year, I feel like I will finally have some family close by! Its wonderful when you get along that well.
