Hair of The day!

The daughter of a lovely client came in for some lively fix in her after attempting to fix a previous highlight that was done. We took her warm base cooler and lightened her ends to an ombre.

Black Bean Brownies 3pts

Okay okay I know this sounds really weird… and honestly I thought so too! But its one of those things you never will know about unless you try it! With my recent Weight watcher endeavors, I have made new friends who are doing weight watchers as well. With that being said, you learn things from new people. One of my new friends posted a picture of the brownie mix and can of black beans and I was intrigued. So I went to the store and picked up a box of fudge brownies and a can of black beans for a whopping $2

Thanks to Simple Nourished Living for the recipe/photos.

This is a great emergency recipe for when you are just craving those brownies! I was really surprised and thrown off at first! It is definitely worth a batch or two! [;

Weight Watcher Point Value: 3 for a 1×1 square

My journey back to myself.

As many of you know, I have begun using weight watchers again to drop some pounds for the wedding! My biggest struggle with W.W is tracking my dinners. It is winter and chilly so I want hearty meals all… the… time. I’ll track breakfast and lunch and any snack I pack or make that day but when it comes to dinner I just can’t do because I’m ashamed at how much I eat and the type of food I’m eating. If I don’t track it, it doesn’t count right? WRONG.. every little bit counts, from the chocolate chips I am eating while typing this post, to the Lipton Ice Tea I had with Lunch. There are a few things in the beginning that I don’t normally track like dressings, condiments and seasonings. As soon as you hit you’re plateau those types of things count. Which sucks.

I have done weight watchers 2xs before, and everytime I hit my target weight, I quit. I think that i’ve lost the weight and I get happy and cocky and think the weight is gone forever. WRONG. I’ve battled with my weight my whole life. I wasn’t “Fat” growing up or “Obese” but I tried to conform to society’s standard of “Pretty” and “Hott”. Lets face it, every preteen/high schooler wants to be “Hott” “Sexy” or “Gorgeous”.  Instead of trying to fit the mold, I am trying to feel better about myself. I am happier when I am 20lbs lighter then what I am now, I do feel better and look better, I smile more and just flat out feel prettier.

The first time I joined weight watchers, I joined to help my mom. I was 21 almost 22 and thought I had a few pounds to loose and with my mom by my side, what the heck. So mom and I would help each other along the way, and make dinner together and have lunch together and we would help each other stay on track. I hit my goal and quit tracking… my mom however went on to loose 50+ lbs and is a weight watcher for life.

The second time I joined, I’d been living with my fiance for 5 months and we ate out a lot. Its easier when you’re tired and on the go. Well  I’d hit my all time heaviest at 175 not fitting into any of my clothes and I couldn’t stand looking at myself in the mirror. Once again, I hit a good patch and it was summer, so all we did was drink beer and eat out. This time, I worked with people who worked out all the time, were gluten free, vegan or even vegetarians. I was never happy, I’d cry all the time because I looked rolly.

This time, I am fluctuating between 170 and 165, I have a wedding in 9 months, and I want to feel better and happier about myself. Heres to a start to a new journey!

Hair of the Day!

This darling young women and I met at our local Red Robin! She had been trying and trying to get a beautiful red for sometime so when she saw my hair she knew she needed to come see me.

We achieved this look in 3 different steps. She came in to my salon with a level 4 box color so of course I had to remove that. Once that was light enough we did the base color down strand and met it with balyage to create the “ombre? Effect. After going home and playing with it, she decided it was way too light so she came back the next day and we did another round of the double pigment reds from Wella.

It was an extreme pleasure to get to meet this lovely lady! She had been doing her hair for 20+ years but finally decided to let the professionals handle it!  She had been doing box color for a long time, and its time to give her hair the TLC its deserves.

We wanted a change, but also wanted to freshen up her “dull” hair color! We added 3 colors to give some definition but a full fine weave to make sure we didn’t have “Stripes”.

We had so much fun getting to know each other and found so much in common there was an instant bond! So excited for our future!

This new mother hadn’t had her haircut in over a year, so to get her ready to go back to work we took off 6″.  She had super curly hair that has a mind of its own.

Before and After:

After wanting to go a lot darker, we decided to gradually work her into a more drastic color. Sometimes, when you are one color for so long, and then drastically change it, you don’t always like the outcome. You can always add color, but its not always easy to get your original color back.

I got to meet this lovely mother of 3 boys today!! After getting really sick and recovering, she wanted a change.  We wanted a violet hue to a more natural color as well as adding fun reds around the face!!

Hair of the Day.

DeLeone came in and saw me again. we added more highlights and less violet on top as well as brightened up the violet around her nape. The violet is more noticeable now which is very beautiful!!

Before and After:

Merlot had seen Miss. Goldilocks in her place of employment multiple times and fell in love with her haircut. So we took off 6″ or more off the back and her shorter lengths became her longest! We had such a wonderful time getting to know each other.

Hair of the Day!

Today’s hair of the day, I am very proud of. (I am proud of all my work but this is my favorite so far.) I received a text message late last night from another gal at the salon saying that she rescheduled her clients sister from Thursday for a color correction to my books the next day because of time conflicts. I had no idea what I was walking into!

The very sweet mother of 4, of which I had an awesome time. Something happened with her usual stylist, she left very unhappy and didn’t feel like she could talk to her stylist. We took her golden tones and added a lowlight and a lighter blonde. We also took her Partial and raised it a full.

Highlight: 20vol Blondor with Olaplex
Lowlight: 55/0 =10vol
Toner:  2 part clear and 1 part 9B Shades EQ

I love these photos. These two are my absolute favorite out of this whole series.  They show the truest color as well as my lovely station.  _DSC0672copy

Another reason I am thrilled with this hair, is also the fact that I took my DSLR to work for the first time in my Hair Career and used my SB-600 Speedlight and got tremendous results. I have been fighting with the lighting at the salon while using my camera from my smartphone. This was my first time using my DSLR and my Speedlight for something other then playing around. Since I got my speedlight (3 years ago) I hadn’t really used it other then to play with it (to figure it out)

We also reshaped the previous haircut adding more layers! It was such a pleasure to work with you today!

Hair of the Day!

This very sophisticated women, wanted to add some red to her brown!!  It was a pleasure to get to do her hair at the last minute. After coloring her hair for the past 6 years herself, she branched out to let someone else do her hair! We are in the process of inverting her previous haircut into a “LOB”.  (The red in her hair is a lot brighter then the picture shows)

Base: 5/71=20vol +greydrops
Ends: Left over of base color with cellophane added
Lowlight: 55/46 = 30vol
