It’s my Birthday!

My husband made me my favorite breakfast in bed… Eggs Benedict with Avacado.

And of course my best friend did it again, she spent all morning driving and suprised me with flowers, balloons and her presence for the whole day!

After a few hours at Macy’s and TJ Max we went for a birthday cider at a Local brew house! It is one of our favorites in the Central Oregon area.

(If you haven’t figured it’s Atlas Cider Brewhouse)

Afterwords, we hit he Nike outlet and I got a killer deal on a pair of Nike running shoes (yes I am going to start running). Lastly, we went bowling with all of our friends!

All in all I had an incredible day! I got spoiled by not only my husband and my best friend but all of my friends! What more could a girl ask for?

Hair of the Day!

Sometimes when you play with hair and come out with some crazy awesome hair you need the perfect lighting from snow on the ground! She withstood the falling snow so I could get such an awesome image!

Hair of the day!

I’ve had a crazy busy beautiful couple of weeks; One of my best friends got married, I am in final planning on my wedding to Mr.Boo Merrill, another great friend is getting married in a little over a week and I am creating some incredible hair! Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks.

She was referred by a friend of mine and holy smokes did we have such a great time! A very pretty violet that stole the show!

This blondie finalized something huge in her life and needed a change. She wanted some level 6 lowlights added. We created s very pretty chocolate brown!

This peach always comes to me with something fun and new. She has always been reserved and this time stepped out of her box.

Another wonderful client that always has something new for me to do. She decided it was time to start preparing for fall!
Referred from her sister, this Salem born Denver grown decided that after stalking my social media, I was the one she wanted to do her hair!

Bridal Shower ❤️

I got the blessed opportunity to be surrounded by my family and friends at my Bridal Shower! I had friends from Oregon as well as my Washington friends gathered together to celebrate me and my soon to be husband Mr. Boo.
My grandma (the beautiful redhead in the back) required everyone to wear hats. My cousin Susan (technically my 2nd cousin) in the teal came all the way from California to be a part of this new adventure. Unfortunately she won’t be at the wedding, so instead she decided to come help grandma!

This cookie in the back, photobombing my picture with a selfie is the infamous DeLeone. She drove ( with her fiancé) all the way from Redmond OR just to spend the day supporting us and help with final touches.

The lovely Miss. Sherry. We’ve known each other for over 8 years and the last 3 years we really had become close! I am beyond thrilled that she was able to make it out even if it was only for 20 mins.

My “soon to be” mother in-law. She was a champ all day. After the party we went to my parents and worked our bums off to get everything prepared for the wedding. My in-laws really work hard to get things done and make shxt happen. (I also think this is one of my favorite pictures from the weekend)

I had such a great day and wouldn’t trade it for the world. I have such an amazing group of friends and family. Thank you so much to everyone else who came that I don’t have pictures with. As I get more pictures (not taken by me) I will upload them! Till next time-

How I achieve my Body Wave!

Hey everyone!! This is my first tutorial EVER!!! So I apologize if you feel it’s a bit rough. I made this to walk people through how to do a blow out on yourself, as well as to show you how I do it. For a lot of my clients, some of the stuff may look familiar as well as it may be new!

So first, Lets start with product:

_DSC0069_DSC0070

I just recently started trying the Colorproof CrazySmooth (its the pink bottle… and yes I know the pictures are black and white and that you can’t tell). I wasn’t quite sure how I felt at first, after many uses I noticed a big difference in the smoothness and texture of my hair! For great hair you need a great base, which is why you always use Salon quality shampoo and conditioner! Right out of the shower I spray my hair with Pravanna’s Nevo Leave in Conditioner, I also run a drop of Redkens Diamond Oil and a pea size amount of Redken’s Curl Refiner (which unfortunately I have found to be discontinued). Depending on your hair type you may need a stronger hold or texture spray for some grip!

_DSC0079

The only tools that I use, consist of a round brush, blow dryer and a hair tie (You can use a hair tie or clip whatever works for you!). I use a medium size round brush because of the length of my hair and the amount of curl I want to achieve! If you want more curl use a smaller brush, if you want less use a larger brush.

I start with my bangs (Fringe.. whatever) only because it’s what I look at in the mirror everyday and it dries the quickest. When training the “fringe” for a deep side bang (as many of my clients know) start by blowing straight down into your face so help reverse any cowlick/whirl that is around the front hairline(everyone has one, some are just more noticeable).  I will also blow my fringe the opposite direction of the way I normally style, that creates the c curved shape, and then blow them into place.

_DSC0083_DSC0082_DSC0081

Now that the bangs are styled ( you can run a roundbrush or flatiron to them if you like a more sleek fringe).

Moving on to the rest of the hair!

When doing a “blow out” you want to have 70-80% of the moisture removed from the hair! I’ve found that 80-90% dry works best when styling my own hair, but when I am behind the chair I normally don’t let the hair get past 70% I have more control.  A trick I found through my training as well as trial and error, is to always keep the blowdryer pointing down the hair shaft to keep the cuticle smooth. Once you blow up the hair strand you rough up the cuticle just enough to where the style looks fuzzy and broken.

_DSC0085

(notice the arrow? Blowing down the shaft)

_DSC0087

Who is ever this happy blowdrying hair… me apparently

For extra volume, turn your head over and continuing to blow down the strand, creates height by over directing the hair strand at the root, lifting the hair off scalp when flipped over!

_DSC0089

Here is the finished blown dry look! Notice the volume without being super frizzy?

_DSC0090

Notice there is still moisture in my hair, but it isn’t soaking wet anymore!

_DSC0091

Part a section at the nape no thicker then the end of your round brush.

_DSC0093

Starting at the scalp with the roundbrush, silk the hair a couple times (smoothes extra fly aways and helps remove tangles) by running the heat from the blowdryer down the hair shaft along side the roundbrush! After a couple times over the hair, gently roll the roundbrush up the hair while keeping the heat on the brush (shown above.. notice arrow pointing down the shaft still) When rolling a roundbrush in your hair, the trick to getting it out is to unroll in the same direction you rolled. Make sure the brush and the hair are heated enough to alter the hydrogen bonds in your hair! BECAREFUL… hair does burn when heat is applied for too long!

Once your hair is warm, dry and wrapped around the brush its time to cool…

_DSC0094

I get asked why I do this technique at least 2-3x a day!

When you apply heat to your hair, you are shaping it into a different form (whether it be to straighten or to curl) , when cool air is applied you are setting it in the form you shaped it (like pinning curls after curling your hair so they don’t loosen). I don’t have a fancy blowdryer where the end is a secret weapon, it’s the same as any other! I use the fan on the tail-end of the blowdryer as a cooling agent by pulling the heat from the hair! The fan is meant to draw air into the heating element of the blowdryer helping to push the warm air out!

Make sure you keep the grate on the tail end of the blowdryer clean or your blowdryer will probably end up blowing up.

_DSC0098

When unrolling your hair, you can twist with the roundbrush (a bit more advanced) or once your hair is out you can twist with your fingers.

Notice the pretty curl!
_DSC0095Okay.. so they were from different sides… but you get the point.  Work your way up the head section by section!

_DSC0101

The back of the head gets tricky, and it does take some time to get the hang of. Try to keep the blowdryer pointing down the hair shaft still! (sorry the picture below doesn’t show very well)

_DSC0104

Here is me twisting after I’ve taken my hair out of the roundbrush.
_DSC0105(are you arms tired yet? take a break its okay!)

_DSC0100

My break was unintentional… as I had to search the house to find another hair band! (yes I am one of those that leave hairbands and bobby pins in places one would never look and then I forget about them)

I’ve taken my fingers and combed through creating the loose waves pictured below

_DSC0108

halfwaythere

The top of the hair is tricky, it will make or break the hairstyle!

_DSC0109

Depending on how I feel that morning/night is depending on how I blow out the top of my hair! I love volume so I will more than likely blow it backwards over directing to create more height! Sometimes I will also pin the top sections into a pin curl to set the wave.

_DSC0111

Here is my finished look! You can spray it with hairspray, back comb, or even give more curl!

#Pezhead

Not very many people I talk to, fully understand the fun and excitement I get when I am given a Pez Dispenser. Its truly an obsession of mine. I’ve slowly started to collect pez around 2012 when we still got them in our Easter basket, christmas stockings, for valentines day and so on and so forth! It all started when I was 19 or 20 and I was walking through Barnes and Noble with my parents and started to just glance around while my dad was looking at coin collecting books. I found a pocket size book that contained Pez Dispensers for generations, along with that, they had their pricing and variations. People think “Its a Candy Dispenser” “Its only a Pez Dispenser”… but to me, its a lot more. I get a thrill from finding the different stem variations, finding a killer deal on them at antique stores, completing sets of them when I can, and I just love them.20150119_190345

I’ve gone on a Inventory spree. I’ve started to inventory all of my pez… oh my gosh… it takes FOREVER!!! I don’t even think I am half way done! Pictured above are pez numbers #198, #199, #200 and #201. As you can see with the Mickey Mouse’s there are so many different variations to many pez dispensers.

I also just recently bought a light kit to be able to photograph mini objects! for $27 cant beat it. It will help with photographing Knives for  Custom Knives by Troy  as well as my Pez. I have only tested one pez dispenser so far. I just got the light kit tonight!!

Just a few tester images. I hope to have more soon, I just need to find time to take pictures… but it takes forever!! Time will tell- <3

Hair of The Day!

The insanely beautiful Merlot came in again! This time we colored and cut her hair and had a wonderful time catching up.

My journey back to myself.

As many of you know, I have begun using weight watchers again to drop some pounds for the wedding! My biggest struggle with W.W is tracking my dinners. It is winter and chilly so I want hearty meals all… the… time. I’ll track breakfast and lunch and any snack I pack or make that day but when it comes to dinner I just can’t do because I’m ashamed at how much I eat and the type of food I’m eating. If I don’t track it, it doesn’t count right? WRONG.. every little bit counts, from the chocolate chips I am eating while typing this post, to the Lipton Ice Tea I had with Lunch. There are a few things in the beginning that I don’t normally track like dressings, condiments and seasonings. As soon as you hit you’re plateau those types of things count. Which sucks.

I have done weight watchers 2xs before, and everytime I hit my target weight, I quit. I think that i’ve lost the weight and I get happy and cocky and think the weight is gone forever. WRONG. I’ve battled with my weight my whole life. I wasn’t “Fat” growing up or “Obese” but I tried to conform to society’s standard of “Pretty” and “Hott”. Lets face it, every preteen/high schooler wants to be “Hott” “Sexy” or “Gorgeous”.  Instead of trying to fit the mold, I am trying to feel better about myself. I am happier when I am 20lbs lighter then what I am now, I do feel better and look better, I smile more and just flat out feel prettier.

The first time I joined weight watchers, I joined to help my mom. I was 21 almost 22 and thought I had a few pounds to loose and with my mom by my side, what the heck. So mom and I would help each other along the way, and make dinner together and have lunch together and we would help each other stay on track. I hit my goal and quit tracking… my mom however went on to loose 50+ lbs and is a weight watcher for life.

The second time I joined, I’d been living with my fiance for 5 months and we ate out a lot. Its easier when you’re tired and on the go. Well  I’d hit my all time heaviest at 175 not fitting into any of my clothes and I couldn’t stand looking at myself in the mirror. Once again, I hit a good patch and it was summer, so all we did was drink beer and eat out. This time, I worked with people who worked out all the time, were gluten free, vegan or even vegetarians. I was never happy, I’d cry all the time because I looked rolly.

This time, I am fluctuating between 170 and 165, I have a wedding in 9 months, and I want to feel better and happier about myself. Heres to a start to a new journey!

A Chilling Version of “Mary Did You Know”

Okay, anyone who can sing or harmonize has major props in my book. That is one thing I wasn’t blessed with. As much as I love the idea of singing and I know my shower synthesizer makes me sound 100 times better. This vocal quintet, is probably among the most talented acapella groups I’ve ever heard. The way they feed off of each other to create masterpieces that will send chills down anyones spine.

Fudge Fudge Fudge!

I’ve always wanted to make fudge, but was told it was super hard to get right. The only time I have had fudge was when my grandparents would make it during the holidays!! Seeing as I am building my own home and my own traditions with Boo Merrill, I set out to find the right fudge recipe, and of course where other then PINTEREST. (WOOOHOOOOOO)

Easy Homemade Fudge Favors

fudge Recipe by: Christina @ Intimate Weddings

Of course, I am one of those that likes to use what I already have. Other then Boo running to the store to get sweetened condensed milk (He was already going for coffee so it wasn’t just for me) I used what I already had!! So instead of adding milk chocolate morsels, I used 3 cups of semi sweet morsels, and didn’t add nuts. ( Boo is allergic to specific nuts & I didn’t have any on hand)

I wanted to share my clever find with you! What’s your favorite fudge recipe?
